A church plant became a church
New Life Gothenburg was founded in October 2008, as a result of the mother church’s contacts with the missions department of the American organization CGGC (Churches of God General Conference).
These people were - as well as New Life Stockholm – carrying a vision to plant a church in Gothenburg. Together with people from CGGC, and members from New Life Stockholm, a core team was created under the leadership of John van Dinther.
- God had started to prepare New Life Stockholm to plant new churches in Sweden, so this step felt very natural. As all were praying for this plant in Gothenburg, New Life was contacted by people from Bellevue Church, who were in the process of phasing out their church.
- The leadership group of Bellevue Church felt in their hearts that they would like to donate the church building to New Life should they decide to plant a church. After praying, it was decided to put all our hearts into the project.
Team from Stockholm
A smaller team of five people from Stockholm was recruited and these people moved into the current building in February, 2008. Cell groups were formed, and following a few large renovation projects, the church was dedicated in October, 2008.
The American mission organization CGGC (Churches of God General Conference) has during this time been supporting the work and sending volunteers and missionaries to Gothenburg.
Local leadership in August 2010
In August, 2010 the team leadership was transformed into a local leadership team, which includes a few of the members of the core team, but also newer members. The local leadership currently consists of Tanya Yurchenko from Ukraine.
